Apple to Invest $500 billion on U.S. Facilities Over the Next Four Years
Apple promises to invest $500 billion in U.S. facilities over four years including new manufacturing for key components of electronics.

What Happened?
On February 24, 2025 Apple announced it plans to devote $500 billion in investments over the next four years to expand facilities in the United States.
In a press release Apple claimed the new investments will create 20,000 new jobs over the same time.
Apple also said as part of the new investment it will build and operate a new academy in Detroit designed to train small and medium-sized businesses on using artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
Why it Matters
The impact of the Apple investments will be felt across several different sectors and in many locations across the United States.
For example, Apple plans to expand data center capacities in the following states: Oregon, Iowa, North Carolina, Arizona, and Nevada.
Apple also says it will double investment from five to ten billion dollars in its U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Fund to promote “advanced manufacturing and skills development throughout the country.”
In addition, Apple plans a new server production facility in Houston, Texas that will support Apple’s AI products and services. The Houston facility will be a 250,000 square foot structure scheduled to open in 2026.
In the past Apple has contracted out to have many of its servers overseas, and this effort could help Apple avoid tariffs imposed on goods imported into the U.S. from China.
In addition to servers, Apple said it would work with manufacturers across the United States to find ways to increase the number of products and components made in the U.S.A. That would be a change for Apple which historically has outsourced much of its component manufacturing to places like China.
Apple also said it plans to build new production facilities to produce content for Apple TV+, which has become a popular streaming platform for movies and television shows. Those new facilities are planned to be spread across at least 20 states, although Apple didn’t specify which states.
The Apple announcement builds on plans the tech giant announced during the Biden administration in 2021. During the Biden Administration Apple said it would invest $430 billion in U.S. facilities over a five-year period creating 20,000 jobs.
Monday’s announcement can be interpreted as an increase on that promise from $430 to $500 billion dollars.
How it Affects You
Apple has relied on an extensive production and supply chain in China. But the recent tariffs by the Trump Administration appear to be driving Apple to rethink how it creates and assembles parts for its new devices and products.
The promised Apple investment in the U.S. is separate from the $500 billion promised by big tech companies for AI development. If Apple follows through on its promise many communities in the United States stand to benefit.
