Biden's Border Moves: Dismantling Security or Political Sabotage?

Videos reveal the Biden administration hauling border wall materials, sparking allegations of undermining future border security efforts.

What Happened?

According to videos obtained by The Daily Wire, it appears the Biden Administration is hauling large amounts of border wall materials away from the southern border.

In videos obtained from an anonymous Border Patrol agent, it appears that large unused sections of the border wall are being hauled away from a section of the border just south of Tucson, an apparent hotspot for illegal crossings.

The anonymous agent estimated that up to half a mile per day of unused border wall was being transported from the southern border.

Some have argued that the Biden administration is attempting to sabotage the incoming administration's border security efforts before they ever get started.

Why it Matters

One of those making that case is Congressman Eli Crane (R-AZ), whose congressional district borders the Pinal Airpark where the materials are being auctioned.

He’s quoted as saying:

'The Biden Administration is well aware they shouldn’t have reversed the construction of the border wall. If it’s true, they’re purposefully hamstringing an incoming president, it wouldn’t be shocking. Why would they want to see President Trump succeed with policies they aggressively sabotaged?'

President-elect Trump has not been shy about his stance on immigration. Vowing to end birthright citizenship, cracking down on illegal immigration was a focal point of his 2024 campaign. Many have predicted that Republicans in Congress could get a budget reconciliation bill on Trump's desk by early February, or even the end of January.

The reconciliation package, which would not require bipartisan support, would increase funding for Immigration and Customs (ICE), enabling it to effectively carry out mass deportations, provide more money for the border wall, and provide technology at the border to further aid agents in combating illegal crossings.

The increased funding is also expected to be used to hire more border agents. Trump is expected to sign a multitude of executive orders upon entering office, effectively 'sealing the border' on his first day according to many.

The implications of these actions are certain to be far-reaching. This goes beyond the typical political tug-of-war typically associated with the border. The incoming administration wants to emphatically put an end to the way border security-or the lack of it-has been handled by previous administrations.

For those living near the border, the removal of these materials would mean continued challenges with illegal crossings and heightened safety concerns.

How it Affects You

For American taxpayers, these recent actions raise the question of wasted tax dollars, as the materials were funded by U.S. tax dollars, and their unexpected removal and subsequent auctioning certainly feels like a blatant disregard for taxpayer priorities.

In a broader sense, this story underscores the volatility of federal policies. Trump's incoming administration, which includes 'border czar' Tom Homan, has repeatedly stated their intent to pour more money, resources, and executive orders into transforming the current system.

These decisions will have a substantial impact and ultimately shape the nation's economy, workforce, and security moving forward.

The border issue continues to serve as a reminder that governance is hardly just about policies; it's about the tangible effects these policies have on American citizens.
