Ukraine's Zelensky Rallies European Support Amid U.S. Uncertainty as Russia Attacks
Ukraine’s Zelensky expressed new concerns surrounding efforts to end its war with Russia, citing aerial attacks as he rallies world support amid U.S. uncertainty.

What Happened?
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed new concerns on Monday surrounding a deal to end the war with Russia.
While Zelensky says his country wants to end the conflict, he insists that Russia doesn’t, citing a recent number of aerial attacks.
'Over the past week, more than 1,050 attack drones, nearly 1,300 aerial bombs, and more than 20 missiles have been launched at Ukraine to destroy cities and kill people,' Zelensky said on social platform X. 'Those who seek negotiations do not deliberately strike civilians with ballistic missiles.'
To mitigate these attacks from Russia, Zelensky says Ukraine needs greater collective strength from the world.
'Strengthening our air defense, supporting our army, and ensuring effective security guarantees that will make the return of Russian aggression impossible — this is what we must focus on,' Zelensky added.
The Ukrainian leader traveled to London to attend U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s rally to gain more support for Ukraine from his European counterparts.
The Associated Press reports that Zelenskyy said a deal to end the war between Ukraine and Russia 'is still very, very far away.'
Why it Matters
But he still reportedly expects to continue receiving U.S. support despite last week's intense Oval Office meeting.
Zelenskyy, President Donald Trump, and Vice President JD Vance were joined at the White House by other officials and reporters.
President Trump told Zelenskyy he was 'gambling with millions of lives' and that his actions could trigger World War III.
The Ukrainian president followed up with remarks about Russian skepticism and the actions of President Putin, who didn't show signs of wanting to end the war.
A joint press conference between both country leaders was also canceled as Zelenskyy's visit was cut short.
Shortly after the meeting, Trump stated on Truth Social that Zelenskyy disrespected the U.S. in its cherished Oval Office and that 'he can come back when he is ready for peace.'
Europe is reportedly suspicious of Trump’s motives and strategy.
Germany’s next likely leader Friedrich Merz believes that last week's actions at the Oval Office were not spontaneous.
This all comes as a U.S. resolution was recently rejected by the U.N. General Assembly that urged approval of an end to the war in Ukraine without noting Russia's aggression.
The U.S. aligned with Moscow in a stunning shift from years of U.S. policy, which has long backed European allies.
Some then reportedly viewed the outcome as a setback for the Trump administration and its diminished Ukrainian support on display.
It came on the three-year anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
How it Affects You
Political tensions have reached a boiling point over negotiating leverage to end the Russia-Ukraine war.
Ukraine and U.S. officials were in the final stages of negotiating a minerals deal that could now be at risk.
Reports are that Putin and Trump could meet in person as early as this month as the U.S. plans to reverse policies that isolated Russia relations.
The future state of U.S. and Ukraine ally relations remains unknown.
